Using Accessory Plates for ZWO ASIAIR and Photastro Mounting Kits

This page describes several accessory plates made by Photastro. They all share a unique design with a pattern of eyelets and M4 holes for a flexible mounting and cable management.

ZWO ASIAIR Plus Accessory Plate

This accessory plate can be used with ZWO ASIAIR Plus and ZWO ASIAIR Plus 265GB. The latter version is the current version from ZWO. It has the same total height, but the casing is a bit larger than on older ZWO ASIAIR Plus version. This does not make any difference for the use of the plate.

The eyelets of the plate can be used with cable binders and with hook-and-pile fastener (also known as “velcro” (R) fastener) for better cable management.

The 4mm holes are placed in 10mm raster. They can be used to mount accessories on top of ASIAIR. The heads of screws are facing towards the ASIAIR and are countersink into the plate. There is some additional space in the countersink so that a wide range of screws can be used. Photastro uses DIN 7991 flathead screws

The plate can be used stand alone and is provided as an option with all Photastro mounting kits, for example with these two:

Accessory Plate for the Mounting Kit for Askar FRA 400

Compared to the plate for ASIAIR, the next two versions also provide a countersink for the M4 nut DIN 934. This allows other placing of the screws if needed. This countersink  is combined with the countersink for the flathead screws. With this, you can place screws in all holes in any direction.

On the kit for Askar FRA 400, one such plate is used to hold the ASIAIR. An additional one can be placed on the other side of the telescope

The plate is available separately or as an option with the mounting kit for the Askar FRA 400 telescope.

Accessory Plate for the Mounting Kit for ZWO FF65 and Askar 65PHQ

This accessory plate shares the same principle

but it is adapter to the rings of ZWO FF65 and Askar 65PHQ

It is available separately or as an option with the mounting kit for the ZWO FF65 and Askar 65PHQ telescopes.
